What you’re

Saying

“ I think I have done a lot for the government and the government has done a lot for me.”

Bilkisu Abdulmalik Bashir

  • “I have found her competent since I started working with her. She is ever willing to serve. Above all, she is efficient with her job and in carrying out instructions. On many occasions, she has educated me on some administrative requirements of the operations of the system in the Commission. Above all, she is prudent in managing funds.”
Hon. Justice Mahmoud (former) Chief Justice of Nigeria
  • “If you were bereaved, the first person to rush to for succor was Bilkisu. If your marriage was in trouble, the one person to see was Hajiya Bilkisu. If your supervisor or unit head had become a crucifier, the person to give you a listening ear was Bilkisu. If you have transgressed the law, the one person to avoid was Bilkisu.”
Patrick Oguejiofor, Staff of FJSC and co-author of The Woman I know
  • “Anytime I run to her with my tears, she will ask me to stop crying. She will wipe my tears and replace them with tears. Bilkisu is good not only outsiders but also to us, members of her immediate family because all her life she tries to please people and she is never afraid to give out her whole salary to the family and she would tell you that Allah would provide.”
    Zahra Abdulmalik Bilkisu’s younger sister
  • “…the bullying of junior officers by their senior counterparts was unacceptable. The problem was tabled before the Secretary of the Commission. A meeting was called by the Secretary to look into the complaints…the Secretary, who was thoroughly shocked by the development, waded in by reprimanding the senior staff for their callousness. The situation changed after that meeting…the people that abused us then are now our best friends as a result of the intervention of Hajia Bilkisu.”
Mr Sunday Babalola Rufus, clerical officer, FJSC
  • “She is instrumental to the unity of the family. And because of the so much kindness we have received from her, a total of eleven children including my eldest daughter were named after her in appreciation. We have no regrets whatsoever that she came into this family. It is really impossible to state the total number of persons from the family who have benefited from her kindness directly or indirectly. We do not have anything to pay her back other than to pray for her so that she will find kindness and respect throughout her life.”
    Jamilu Karaye, stepson.
  • “…in collaboration with the Abuja Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Bilkisu set up the Engineer Mohammed Bashir Karaye Prize for Hausa Literature. The Prize sought to recognize excellence in indigenous writing and encourage writers to preserve in writing their own mother tongue….over the years, Bilkisu has become a major patron of the arts through her numerous contributions by supporting writers financially and morally and by attending book launches.”
